The Pekingese is made using the art of intarsia. It measures 12 1/2 inches wide, 9 1/2 inches tall, and 1 1/2 inches thick.
The Pekingese contains 44 individual pieces of wood. Each piece is cut out with a scroll saw, shaped, raised or lowered and glued to present the perfect image of the Pekingese.
The woods used are maple, walnut, mahogany and cherry.
The colors are natural wood colors. No wood staines are used. The eyes and nose are painted black.
A backing is attached and a saw tooth picture hook is on the back for hanging on a wall. This can also be displayed on shops a flat surface supported by a picture stand.
A Lacquer finish is applied to preserve the wood and give it a slight shine.
