History: The painting was shown for the first time on February 13, 1876 and from that date the first miracle occurred: the healing in Naples of a girl that the well-known professor Antonio Cardarelli had judged incurable from epilepsy. The word of the many miracles that took place in Pompeii in front of the image of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary spread quickly and thousands of faithful came to Pompeii, which at the time was only a valley that was part of Torre Annunziata. Today more than four million pilgrims arrive in Pompeii every year to visit one of the most famous Marian shrines in the South.
