For Christians, the Lord's Cross serves as a companion in their prayers and as a symbol of their faith. The main moment in the salvation of humanity was the Lord's death on the Cross. Death was defeated, freedom was made possible, and the gates of paradise were unlocked by His crucifixion. The inspiration for this Cross came from one of the best-known paintings by the Italian Florentine artist Cimabue Cenni Di Pepo. In the years 1288–1290, he created the piece for Florence's Santa Croce Church. Theotokos is shown at the right hand of the crucified Christ, and Saint John Chrysostom is shown at the left. The setting up of Christ's throne is shown above the Cross.
