The basket is handmade by the women of the Embera indigenous tribe of Panama. Embera Wounaan women have been waving baskets for centuries, using a fine needle for most of their work. Flora and fauna, mixed with their reverence for the rain forest spirits, inspire their designs. The fabric is made from a plant call werregue and painted with colors taken from nature.
