The background landscape is a picture I took while coming back from my deployment, and was quarantined at Fort Bliss, Texas. Being from New Mexico, the desert is a landscape that I see as my home, and it brings me comfort. Even when I was deployed to Iraq, I felt in a way at home being in a desert environment. I created this piece as a way to heal and feel thankful for returning home. I also see myself as a desert dreamer.
Using color as symbolism and expression, I am capturing my concept of people, activities, and places that inspire, amuse or fascinate me. Color represents different connotations for each piece, sometimes a literal representation of institutions, sometimes more abstract showing the inversion of feelings or emotions expressed. The purpose of symbolizing the color is to make the viewer ponder by literally see things shops in a different light, and have them consider their own concept of what is represented.
