Product code: Antique Sowerby Queens Ware Milk Glass Peacock Creamer shops Jug #1350 Uranium Glow
Antique Sowerby Queens Ware shops Milk Glass Peacock Creamer Jug #1350 Uranium Glow. Excellent condition, no cracks, chips, or breakage. Please note that it does have some black specks (dirt?) imbedded in the glass that are possibly a result of its age. Unsure whether or not this would come off after a good cleaning. Other than that it's in excellent condition and the feet are all intact with minimal wear on bottom. This is a wonderful Victorian pressed glass jug/creamer, made in creamy white milk glass (also known as vitro-porcelain glass. Made by British company Sowerby in the 1880's, and bears their trademark of a peacock on the inside base, as well as a design lozenge. This design, pattern number 1350 is shown on page 7 of Sowerby's Illustrated Pattern Book No IX, issued in June 1882. This particular color was called Queen's Ivory, and contains small amounts of uranium in the glass, which cause it to glow bright green under UV light.
