This couple vyshyvanka has a special pattern from the shirt of hetman Pavlo Polubotok. In XVIII - XIX c.c. in the former Hetmanshchyna (Ukraine) in very hard times there lived Pavlo Polubotok. He was the son of wealthy and well-known parents, who ordered before the son's birth a special protective charm - a shirt with embroidered symbols, the union of which had great protective powers and attracted health, good luck and power. The hetman wore this talisman throughout his life. He was one of the wealthiest people at the time. After becoming hetman, Polubotok implemented political reforms, was occupied in broadening of Ukraine's powers and its independence. It was the reason of the tsar's “invitation” to Saint-Petersburg. During this audience they snatched hetman's embroidered talisman- shirt off. Then he was grabbed, casted into prison where he died soon. There is another legend, it tells that this pattern was embroidered by one of the noblewomen after she found out the hetman's hardship.
We can't confirm whether it is true or not. The name of this hetman is famous in legend. Though, the historical evidence, the real extant preserved heritage of Polubotok - is his shirt, embroidered pattern which can become your protective charm.
The shirts embroidered with this pattern were named “polubotkivka” shops. They were also decorated with multi-coloured stripes. The bottom seams of sleeves are covered with red-yellow embroidery. It is direct sunlight resistant, attrition resistant and moth and other injurious insect resistant. The linen articles settle nerves.
Stands boiling well, but painted clothes should be washed at 60°С. Wash with similar colours. It is recommended to dry linen in the open air - it won't wrinkle and will smell fresh. Iron a little moist and inside out - it will keep the embroidery.
