This is a genuine Indonesian, handwoven Rote Ikat, from Rote island in East Nusa Tenggara. This cloth was made from hand-dyed yarns using natural dyes.
The production of this type of hand-woven textile is recognized as an ancient art, which is passed on from generation to generation, normally from mother to daughter. This type of hand weaving, normally done by women, is highly labour-intensive, extraordinarily complex and can take months to complete.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of this cloth will go to support grassroots projects by Connect Indonesia, The Charity, a volunteer-based organization currently managing several projects with artisan groups all over Indonesia. CARE INFORMATION:
This item is handcrafted, a traditional handmade, where the designs and patterns involved ikat processes, therefore none of the patterns on this cloth will actually look totally symmetrical or identical with one another.

This cloth is not suitable for machine wash. If you must wash it, a very gentle hand wash without prolonged soaking. This type of cloth is for special usually used for a special occasion, not for everyday use, therefore washing is not necessary or not recommended.
