The mother is wearing a velvet blouse with a cotton skirt and her hair is tied in the traditional bun called a TSIIYEEL. The bun is also tied with wool from a sheep. They are both sitting on a sheepskin rug. Raising sheep and weaving are intertwined in the Dine' culture. The Navajo (now known as Dine') use sheep in every aspects of their lives, from clothing to food.
