Rationing was in full swing by 1944, and Americans were urged to recycle aluminum, paper, and rubber along with a host of other items to help the war effort. " Paper drives" were common, and the theme of this fantastic poster by artist Alex Ross.
The poster has printed along the bottom edge: U.S. Government Printing Office - 1944 - O - 607303
Poster size is approximately: 27 7/8" x 20". There is a tear along the crease on the lower left that moves up into the poster. There is a pinhole in the middle of the poster just to the right of the slogan "Save Waste Paper". The bottom edge is "jagged" and there is a small scuff of sorts (not all the way through, just on the surface) located on the lower right side.
Overall, the colors of this poster are absolutely vibrant, and there appears to be no fading anywhere on this item. Once framed, it would be difficult to detect the tear along the crease. It is a wonderful piece of WW II history/memorabilia, and a fantastic piece of art!
