Beginning in 1820, when William Hazen Rogers became a silversmith, the Rogers Brothers were using a process called silverplating to create silverware & serving pieces. In 1847, that process was perfected to the point that other companies wanted to work with them, & they were bought by The Meriden Britannia Company ... which later became International Silver.
