This listing is for a complete rug hooking kit designed, packaged, and sold by Sharon Perry. I can't tell you how many people have taught themselves traditional rug hooking (not latch hook) using these kits. This kit which is suitable for the beginner or seasoned rug hooker comes with the following items:

100% wool fabric cut in #8 (1/4") strips
A color photo of the finished piece along with a color key
Pattern drawn on a lovely cotton monks cloth
Easy to follow rug hooking instructions
Cotton binding to finish it off once you have it hooked

If this is your first project the only other items you will need are a rug hook and a frame to put your piece in. I started off with a quilting hoop and did several rugs on that before spending more money and getting a floor frame. I think you need to determine whether you like a hobby before spending a ton of money on it. As for the hook, I have hardwood and steel primitive hooks listed for $12.00 but if you want to purchase one with the kit the price is just $7.25.

This kit when completed measures 8 X 20 inches and would make a great table accent/runner or wall hanging especially over a door or window frame. The crows are hooked with a Dorr black with a touch of grey herringbone for the eyes and charcoal for the wing line. The stars are done with a lovely pumpkin/mustard stripe. The branch is done with heather brown plaid and the leaves with a rusty rose plaid. The background is hooked with a very primitive autumn plaid and for a finishing touch I added a row of deep eggplant around the outer edge of the project.

To see a demonstration of this craft please see my daughter's website, loopbyloopstudio.com to find instructional videos and tips for beginners as well as more kits, patterns, etc.
