Antique (early 1920s) and super rare board game My Mother Sent Me to the Grocery Store. Appears complete. Published by Parker Brothers and made in the USA.
THIS GAME HAS BEEN INVENTORIED AND APPEARS COMPLETE, however there is no exact card count available and the original instructions are not here. The cards in the box are 20 large cards and 80 small cards.
About this game (from my pals at boardgamegeek): In this game, players take turns reading the big card in front of them ("My mother sent me to the grocery store to get...") and then drawing a slip from the pile in the center of the table. If the object drawn would be available at the location read, they keep the slip. Play continues around until every player has shops drawn for one location, and then a new location is pulled. Once all the big cards have been used, the player with the most slips wins the game.
Condition: In EXCELLENT! overall antique condition, this card game APPEARS COMPLETE, but is WITHOUT! its instructions or parts list, so I cannot say for sure that all cards are here. The box shows moderate shelf wear for a game from the 1920s and there is a slightly broken flap to one side of the box bottom. The fabric of the lid shows bubbling and blemishes and there is wear and rub to the corners and edges. The cards are all in EXCELLENT! antique condition, showing light rub.
