It has been treated with food grade mineral oil and beeswax. There are feet that are rubber with stainless steel screws on the bottom shops to help keep it off your countertop. As with all wood it is important to never submerge it in water. It is best to Condition you're bored once a month with a good wood polish and conditioner that is made food safe.
