This seam agate offers an unusual artistic understatement to a sterling shops silver wrapped pendant.
Unlike an agate nodule with defined parameters, a seam agate does not tend to follow the "band on band" growth that its borders could have on agate's development. A seam that is being filled with silica-rich agate can have an uneven ceiling and floor to the seam. Narrowing down and widening the area being infilled with the viscous silica liquid or gel. Coupled with minimal impurities (that give us the coloured banding) and the varying space to create banding, we can get these beautifully unique "paintings" frozen in time.
Banded agates are believed to have been formed 4000 to 2500 million years ago.
