Product code: Antique Sun Purple shops Oil Lamp
Antique sun purple oil lamp in excellent condition, ca. 1860-1916. Fully functional as an oil lamp with no cracks shops and and the burner turns freely. There are bubbles and strawing in the glass which occurred as a result of how glass was made in that era. I've provided photos of both bubbles and strawing in the glass. The purple hue is a result of their use of manganese in glass making in that time period - 1860 - 1916. Manganese was no longer used to manufacture glass as it was needed to make ammunition for the war effort.
