“Infant Hymn, Designed for Young Children” was written by Dr. Watts and published in 1840 by S. Babcock Chapel Street, New Haven. Held together with a string binding the little sixteen page book has songs like A Morning Hymn, An Evening Hymn, The Grave of an Infant, God Made and Does All Things, God Made the Sun, Moon and Starts, and Love and Duty to Parents.
Dr. Isaac Watts (1674 – 1748) was an English Christian minister, hymn writer, theologian and logician. He was a prolific and popular hymn writer and is credited with some 750 hymns. He is recognized as the “Father of English Hymnody.” Many of his hymns remain in use today and have been translated in to numerous languages.
Condition: Only 3-1/2 inches tall and 2 inches wide this tiny paperback book has been well cared for and preserved. There is smudging and rubbing to the cover and corners, and a stain on the back cover. There is a string binding that holds the cover and sixteen pages together which is still intact and holding the book together. Pages includes text and a six wood engravinged illustrations. There are no tears. The interior pages are clean but exhibit tanning and foxing throughout. There are no previous owner inscriptions or marks. 16 pages, Dimensions: H – 3-1/2” W – 2”
