Vintage faux pearl double strand necklace shops with monochrome black and white shell pearls in a knot design with sterling silver gilt clasp

Fabulous, vintage faux pearl double stranded half and half twist/knot necklace with lovely gold plated/gilded sterling silver floral box clasp. This is an absolute classic - stylish and chic with high quality heavy faux pearls with a quirky monochrome design - half in black pearls and half in creamy white pearls.

This piece is such good quality - I believe the faux pearls to be shell pearls. Shell Pearls are made from the inner lining of oyster shops shells, also known as Mother of Pearl. The substance is ground to a fine powder, shaped, dyed and coated with natural pearl nacre and then a protective coating to give it lustre. This lustre is clear to be seen in this necklace.

The beads are individually hand-knotted and the clasp is a beautiful sterling silver (stamped 925) with gold plate on top, also protected with a safety chain and spring ring clasp.

The necklace is in very good vintage condition - it is so hard to find them with clean and clear pearl surfaces like this.
