Star-Nosed Mole 8x10 inch original acrylic painting on canvas panel, nature, animal, critter, shops weird animal, weird art, home decor
A stunning (and creepily cute) example of adaptation of one's environment, the nearly-blind Star-Nosed Mole has little fingers all around his snout that move around and sense his surroundings very much in the same way eye muscles would on a sighted animal.
I painted this little critter as a reflection on the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. I imagined emerging from the isolation of quarantine blinking at the unfamiliar sun, unsure about finding my way around. How are we adapting to our social lives existing almost solely online? What will our interactions look like a year, or two, or ten years from now?
This unframed, original acrylic painting measures 8x10 inches and was created by me in my smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
