Large hand painted 8 momme silk chiffon scarf measuring 14x71" (or 36x180cm) in summery violets, lavender and bright olive green.

A few words about chiffon: This weave is quite fine and shops diaphanous and loosely woven, and therefore susceptible to snagging, and if the snag is a strong one, a tear in the weave will result – i.e, a small hole. The buyer is cautioned. At the same time, it is a lovely weave because of its diaphanousness and the way the colors deepen and lighten depending on the twist and thickness of the silk on the neck and chest. The slightly rough texture of the weave also allows the silk to adhere to itself somewhat, rather than slip against itself, which means it is interesting and somewhat easier to get a tie in the fabric that holds without a tight knot. Additionally, chiffon is just a bit cooler to wear in warm weather.
