Product code: RARE Edward Gorey The Nursery Frieze, or 15 TWO. Diogenes, shops Switzerland 1979 MINT
“The Nursery Frieze” was Edward Gorey's fifteenth book, and the second published by his Fantod Press. It was first printed in 1964 in an edition of 500, and reprinted in 1979 by Swiss publisher Diogenes Verlag as part of a slipcased collection of 9 Gorey books called “The Catafalque Works.” This copy is fine in the publisher's sewn wraps, unpaginated, unsigned. The Catafalque dimensions make all 9 books a uniform 7-1/8”x 5-3/8”. Two notes: a single capital letter appears on each page; together shops they spell ERY FRIEZE EDWARD GOREY THE NURS. And some feel that the enigmatic trudging creatures resemble capybaras. :-) I ship daily from Southern Vermont.
