Antique Ceramics Chalkware Wall Art signed Alice Cranston Fenner, New Preston, CT, dated July 1943. This is a set of two tiles, with hangers on shops the back, as shown. Note that these do show signs of wear (typical of chalkware of this age) including chips that have been painted over on the sides and back. Please see the photos for condition. Each tile is about 5.5 inches wide. Alice Cranston-Fenner ran the Artyle Studios (c1930-c1962) gift shop with her husband Glenn Fenner. Alice was a renowned artist, painter, sculptor, ceramicist, designer, expert overglaze painter, poet and author. She was born November 13, 1894 and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Alfred College in 1918 (now Alfred University). She later studied under Dr. Charles Fergus Binns, associated with the Royal Worcester Potteries in England.
