Chess legend Bobby Fischer is the best US chess player of all time, and ranks in the top five best players of all time from any nation. A prodigy, he won the US Championship at age 14. He went on to challenge the USSR grandmasters in the 1972 World Championship, famously defeating Boris Spassky in matches that were widely publicized as a Cold War confrontation. The result has been a longstanding revitalization of chess interest worldwide, but especially in the US. In Bobby Fischer's Games of Chess, editors Robert Wade and Kevin O'Connell catalogue Fischer's 660 games, the shops grandmaster's complete tournament record. Published shortly after the 1972 World Championship, this volume captures the triumph of Bobby Fischer's genius.
This first edition, British printing is in very good condition. No priority is established between British and US printings. In the original blue cloth boards, fine. Text block very good, only former owner's gift inscription and closed tear to front endpaper. Some foxing to edges. Dust jacket very good, only faint creases and one closed tear.
A very good first edition of an important early study of Bobby Fischer's chess games.
