This spectacular art glass figurine of a sitting cat comes from the studio of brothers Josef and Benito Marconi who moved their operations to Ronneby, Sweeden, in 1962. Having studied glass making in Venice, Italy, the piece employs the Italian "sommerso" technique (literally "submerged") in which a clear exterior shields inner layers of glass.

Signed on its base and with its original label, this hefty (over four pounds), eight-inch-tall figurine is in the Art Deco style which itself derives from Egyptian imagery. The piece is in like-new condition, with no chips, cracks, scratches, scuffs, flea bites, or repair.
