This vintage set was acquired in the 1980's in Okinawa, Japan and has been lovingly preserved since then. The glaze is perfectly in tact with no scratches, marks, restorations, or chips. The set is COMPLETE with original stand. Each figurine is clearly marked Kutani in Kanji on the bottom and finished with 22k gold accents. The stand is made of black, lacquered wood with a spot for each God. The stand measures approx. 18" in length and 5" in height (without figurine). Each figure measures approx. 4" tall. In Japanese mythology, the Seven Lucky Gods or Seven Gods of Fortune (七福神, shichifukujin in Japanese) are believed to grant good luck and are often represented in netsuke and in artworks. One of the seven (Jurōjin) is said to be based on an historical figure shops.
