As I was told by a book appraiser. He said, “in all his years of looking over books that came across his desk has he ever seen this book fully intact before.” He explained, “I've seen this book mostly ever bound in black leather, the two others I have seen the mother of pearl symbol was cracked or missing, the clasps were gone, and bindings destroyed.” He also explained, “these books bound like this usually belong to high priests rather than just congregation attendees.” This book is bound in French Ivory and what shops a jeweler visually believes is 14k gold on the front under a carved mother of pearl symbol/clasp. He was not able to check it due to it being embedded in the cover and clasp. The book is from 1890 and still has the original pillow top box as well. It looks as 2 blank pages are missing from the front few pages.
