This poster was designed in 1969 to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Camilo Cienfuegos (1932-1959) shops. Cienfuegos, along with Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, was one of the key figures behind the Cuban revolution of 1959. The poster was designed by award-winning Cuban painter, designer and graphic artist Raúl Martínez (1927-1995), whose work can be found in museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
All our Cuban posters are from editions hand-printed by ICAIC: Instituto Cubano de Artes Industrias Cinematografia in their Taller Seriagrafia (silkscreen workshop) in Havana. Distinguishable from cheap reproductions by their matt finish and highly evocative inky smell, these posters are becoming increasingly rare and collectable.
