shops Beautiful fragile terre de fer medium sized serving tureen by renown French pottery manufacturer GIEN, circa late 1800s.

From the service Rinceaux, this is a ironstone legumier tureen which has been hand painted in the Art Nouveau style, with grey blue floral swirls & birds. The base has a nice pumpkin style undulating shape with decorative handles and the lid fits nicely.
This legumier (vegetable) tureen is around 140 years old has survived, which is very unusual for tureens in a smaller size. It does have some signs of it's long life mainly to the delicate glaze (see picture 8 & condition details below) all which hasn't affected it's beauty.

GIEN legumier, model Rinceaux, with typical Art Nouveau shape & decor. Lovely item for decoration on a shelf or sideboard in your home.
