Vintage Spectacular Alencon Lace Valence - Ecru Handmade Continental Lace - Floral Pattern - Mint Condition - 44" x 26" Scalloped Edge shops

Vintage continental needle lace large valence I think is French-style Alencon lace, but almost certainly European. It is made in two shades of ecru (very subtle difference between them, some of the border stitching is ever so slightly darker, a lovely effect.)

This valence is 44 inches long x 26 inches wide at the widest spot.It could be used for something other than a window. Maybe pinned to the side of a colored tablecloth, for a wedding or other fancy occasion.

This item was acquired in Washington, D.C. and most likely belonged to a diplomat or other heavy-hitter who did a lot of entertaining. But the piece is heavy and sturdy despite its lacy appearance.

Size: About 44 x 26 inches, wudest at the center

Age: Unknown. It is almost certainly vintage and possibly a well-preserved antique

Materials: I think it's made from cotton thread. There is no label.
